Business: Boys Town National Research Hospital

Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours a week, Hours Between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday

Job Summary:

In a career as a Medical Social Worker, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will be responsible for addressing financial and social concerns impacting care of Boys Town National Research Hospital and Clinic patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates care for the patient through referral to appropriate resources in the community or within the Boys Town system.
    • Provides leadership in the identification and acquisition of resources (local, state, and federal) for patients and their families.
      • Coordinates activities/follow-up to meet identified needs of select patients to facilitate necessary care, specialty consultation and/or surgery.
        • Serves as a resource for BTNRH physicians, nurses and staff.
          • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams as requested.
            • Maintains complete, accurate, and timely documents of completed work, patient files and office files.
              • Complies with all applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
                • Maintains working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that impact patient care.
                  • Participates in quality improvement activities through staff meetings, committees, continuing educational and professional activities.

                      • Participates in Utilization Review Committee and activities.

                      Required Qualifications:

                      • Bachelors degree in social work
                      • (CSW) certified social work
                      • Minimum of 2 years experience in acute care hospital; pediatrics, preferred
                      • Must maintain patient confidentiality.
