Overview

The Manager of User Experience leads a team, which translates high-level product requirements into rewarding, intuitive and functional user experiences for B2C and B2B audiences. This team works collaboratively with Product Management and IT to define, design, and implement innovative product solutions to complex problems. This position directs the team in gauging the feasibility and iterating on design in partnership with Product and IT to build innovative web and mobile products. As the User Experience Manager, this position will also ensure the best user experience and incorporate the role of advanced data analytics in order to understand user experience and engagement, to perform A/B testing and to enhance the value propositions.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the UX and creative efforts for Nelnet Business Solutions. This includes hiring and managing a multi-disciplinary Design Team including designers, user researchers, front-end developers and accessibility experts.
  2. Mentor and coach the Design Team and help individuals further their professional growth.
  3. Build and strengthen relationships across teams and disciplines to promote collaboration and efficiency on projects.
  4. Work strategically with IT, Product and senior business leaders to create and deliver useful, usable and desirable user experiences.
  5. Use diverse inputs to identify and define exciting new concepts, opportunities and customer problems.
  6. Lead design sessions and design reviews. Give presentations to lead the design vision, align design principles, demonstrate features and flows through mocks and prototypes, and evangelize customer experience.
  7. Own the end-to-end design process of the team, ensuring on time, detailed and polished deliverables.
  8. Develop and maintain annual staffing and staff development plans. Establish measurable and achievable results for members of staff. Connect associates and their work to larger processes that impact customers.
  9. Measure and report on key metrics to evaluate performance and user satisfaction.
  10. Develop and maintain annual team budget.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design or an equivalent degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10+ years of interaction/graphic design experience across a variety of digital media.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in management role leading a team of designers, including mentorship of junior team members.
  • Strong portfolio of design and UX work and track record of leading substantial design projects.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior UX designers.
  • Experience in a client-facing role.
  • Experience in concept ideation, design strategy and digital prototyping.
