This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and helping ensure projects are set up for success from the beginning. Key Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, scope details, and related documents to develop accurate estimates Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work Solicit, track, and compare pricing from vendors and subcontractors Analyze plans and specifications for gaps, inconsistencies, missing scope, and potential budget risks Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, proposals, and bid summaries Develop and maintain allowances, unit pricing, and cost databases Coordinate with project managers, operations staff, field teams, and leadership during preconstruction Assist in developing scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers Identify value engineering opportunities and practical cost-saving alternatives when appropriate Support change order pricing and estimate revisions as needed Maintain organized estimate files, bid tabs, notes, clarifications, and supporting documentation Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members, trade partners, vendors, and clients when needed Help ensure a smooth handoff from estimating to project execution Uphold company standards for professionalism, accuracy, responsiveness, and service Required Skills and Qualifications Experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, project coordination, or a related role Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing Experience with quantity takeoffs, budgeting, and cost analysis Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines at once High level of attention to detail and accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and team members Proficiency in Excel and other estimating, project management, or construction software Ability to work independently while also collaborating well with a team Professional, respectful, and service-oriented attitude Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of estimating experience in residential, commercial, or general construction Experience working with subcontractor bid packages and vendor pricing Familiarity with finish selections, allowances, and client-driven scope changes Knowledge of local construction markets, material pricing trends, and subcontractor networks Experience supporting project managers or operations teams through preconstruction and handoff Key Traits for Success in This Role The right person for this position will be: Accurate and detail-driven - catches issues before they become problems Organized and reliable - follows through on tasks and keeps information clear and documented Service-minded - works to support both the client experience and internal team success A strong communicator - keeps others informed, asks good questions, and prevents confusion Respectful and professional - treats clients, vendors, subcontractors, and coworkers with courtesy Accountable - takes ownership of responsibilities and maintains a high standard of work Calm under pressure - able to manage deadlines and shifting priorities without losing accuracy What This Role Helps Accomplish The Sales / Estimator plays a key role in helping RR Contracting LLC: Build trust through clear, accurate, and timely budgeting Reduce avoidable surprises during construction Support strong planning, communication, and coordination before work begins Create a smooth and professional experience for clients and internal teams Set projects up well from the start so they can be delivered with excellence Alignment with RR Contracting LLC Culture At RR Contracting LLC, we believe our work should reflect our purpose: To Serve, Not to Be Served.
