Great opportunity for an experienced NP or PA to step into a dynamic surgical role combining OR first assist and inpatient floor coverage. This position offers a mix of hands-on procedural work and patient management in a collaborative hospital setting.
Coverage Dates:
August 6-8 (3x12s)
August 21-28 (flexible: 5x8s, 4x10s, or 3x12s)
Future Opportunity:
Strong likelihood of ongoing, full-time coverage through the end of the year
Day shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Weekday call: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 7:00 AM (1-2 weekends/month possible)
Weeknight call opportunities: 4 shifts/month (5:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Weekend rounding: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Combined role: Surgical First Assist + Medical/Surgical Floor Coverage
Work with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients
Operating Room Responsibilities:
Assisting in surgical procedures including:
Suturing, stapling, and wound closure
Hemostasis and bleeding control
Patient positioning and surgical field management
Suction, drainage, and irrigation
Instrument handling (clamps, sponges, etc.)
Floor Responsibilities:
Rounding and progress notes
Order management, consults, and discharges
Coordinating care with physicians and clinical teams
109-bed hospital
Patient ratios: 1:10-15
Unit staffing includes provider, NP, LPN, and anesthesia support
Automated medication dispensing: Pyxis
EMR: Epic (required experience)
Board Certified NP or PA
Active New York license required
Minimum 2 years of recent experience
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, ATLS (AHA)
Epic experience required
Must have continuous work history (no gaps >30 days)
Malpractice disclosure required (if applicable, with provider statement)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Comfortable in both OR and inpatient settings
Detail-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
