Manager Purchasing

Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain , the Purchasing Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight of the p urchasing staff and their key operational functions. Responsible for formulating and administering purchasing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare procurement standards, and optimizing cost-saving initiatives. Tracks and reports key performance metrics to reduce expenses and improve overall efficiency. Works collaboratively with the VP of Supply Chain to support the procurement component of the hospital's information systems. Engages with stakeholders and the sourcing team to develop product specifications, sourcing strategies, and pricing relationships that maximize value and operational effectiveness. Leads vendor negotiations and supply chain management efforts, ensuring high-quality materials and competitive pricing to support hospital operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business or Healthcare Administration or related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience with at least 2 years in a hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical supply chain and healthcare purchasing regulations.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Peoplesoft.
• Previous management or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to handle multi-tasked work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and priorities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and vendor relationship skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and supply chain software systems.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
