Job Details

MUST HAVE -

+ BSCE (required), MSCE (a plus)
+ Professional Engineer (PE) registration (required)
+ 10 or more years of progressive experience in transportation design and project management
+ Preliminary and final design experience with VDOT projects, specifications, and guidelines (required)
+ Hands-on experience with MicroStation (preferred), AutoCAD, or Civil 3D
+ Experience with roadway modeling software such as Inroads or OpenRoads
+ Familiarity with AASHTO policies and guidelines
+ Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
+ Proven ability to deliver complex and challenging projects
+ Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and collaborate within teams
+ Professional demeanor suitable for client representation

RESPONSIBILITIES -
+ Oversee the work of Design Engineers and Engineering Technicians in the development and design of various highway, bridge, and traffic projects, including urban and rural roadways, interstates, interchanges, traffic management, transportation planning, highway safety, site planning, concept alignments, geometric layouts, MOT, and ADA compliance.
+ Develop deliverables and ensure quality control across all project stages, including preliminary layouts, final plans, reports, specifications, and estimates.
+ Coordinate and collaborate with other design teams and evaluate the activities and deliverables of subconsultants and various project disciplines.
+ Interact and coordinate with clients, team members, and subconsultants to drive successful project delivery.
+ Serve as a leader for highway professionals, providing support in programming, technology, and talent to maintain the highest quality of service delivery.
+ Develop and mentor junior and entry-level design engineers, enhancing their highway engineering skillsets.
+ Participate in marketing efforts, identifying potential clients and project opportunities, and representing the firm at meet-and-greet events and interviews.
+ Assist in the preparation of proposals and responses, including SOIs, technical and price proposals, and responses to RFPs, advertisements, and solicitations.
+ Engage with professional organizations such as ACEC, ASCE, AASHTO, and regional AASHTO affiliates.
