Position Summary | Oversee, direct, plan and coordinate the activities and services of the Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence to encourage growth in effective, efficient clinical research undertaken by the PCCE. Provide leadership and management in operations, personnel, and outcomes measures. Oversee all study activities, ensuring education and competency of research staff. Direct and oversee the development of oncology research resources. Oversight of the PCCE budget. This individual will be responsible for working with UNMC and Nebraska Medicine Leadership teams to meet the objectives of the PCCE and to coordinate clinical practices for the Pancreatic Diseases Specialty Clinic, the clinical portion of the PCCE. |

General 1. Strong leadership skills to motivate a team to perform at the top of their capabilities. Excellent project planning and organizational skills. 2. Extensive communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate on the phone, in person, with small and large groups of diverse backgrounds (professional and patient groups), including being an effective team research. 3. General business acumen to include: common sense, good judgment, negotiation skills, basic accounting, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis, and ability to anticipate and forecast needs of the PCCE. 4. Proficiency in analytic reasoning and strategic planning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes 5. Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the PCCE 6. Understanding of human resource administration and related regulatory environment 7. Exhibits a style of participatory leadership and fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding: conflict management, supervision, mentoring, and team building
Research 1. Understanding of pre-award budget preparation and related regulations such as Medicare coverage analysis, coordination of IRB or IACUC protocols, justifications 2. Understanding of post-award administration including set-up process, reconciliation, regular review, progress reports and close-out process 3. Knowledge of and compliance with award-specific and relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations. 4. Understanding of strategic planning for research enterprise of the PCCE in collaboration with PCCE Director or Division Chief 5. Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise |
