Position Summary
Coordinates clinical research for clinical studies in the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism division of Internal Medicine. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates clinical research activities. Responsible for maintaining good clinical practice involving the DEM research protocols.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education: Relevant coursework/specialized training

Required Experience 2 years

Nursing experience to include experience with complex protocols (such as in the ICU or Special Care Unit), and/or experience with clinical research.
Required License Yes

Current Nebraska RN license, or license eligible.

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Effective communication and interpersonal skills;

3. Solid organizational skills;
4. Attention to detail and accuracy required;
5. Knowledge of current nursing procedure, techniques, and practices;
6. Ability to perform a physical assessment as appropriate;
7. Computer literacy and proficiency a must;
8. Utilization of knowledge and skills related to meeting age-specific needs of the patient population served within the copy of this job description. Age-specific populations served are as follows:
- Preschool (3 – 6 years)
- School age (6 – 12 years)
- Adolescence (12 – 18 years)
- Adult (18 – 65 years)
- Geriatric adults (65 years and older)
Preferred Education: None Preferred

Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.) is optimal, with willingness to become a C.D.E. preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with Diabetes and/or Endocrine studies.
Preferred License: Yes

Prefer C.D.E. (Certified Diabetes Educator), or willingness to obtain certification.
Preferred Computer Applications: Microsoft Outlook
Preferred Other Computer Applications: Electronic Med Records (EMR)
Preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Willingness to become a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) and to work closely with diabetes and diabetes care;
2. Past clinical research skills and knowledge preferred.
