Position Summary
Coordinates a diverse group of projects between UNMC campus principal investigators and the Tissue Sciences Facility, Tissue Procurement Services, and Pathology Tissue Bank. Leads services in study specific protocols, mediates the development and billing of pathology study fees, and assists in the oversight of laboratory personnel. In addition, the position is expected to contribute to study proposals and methodology of grants, study applications, and manuscripts for publication.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Biology, Pathology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field.
Required Experience 4 years

Experience in research or clinical laboratory setting with knowledge of methods and procedures related to study design, project coordination, regulatory compliance, tissue banking, and/or histopathological techniques.

Required Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook
Required Other Computer Applications: Scientific data analysis software
Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of research methodology and techniques. 
  • Knowledge of histology laboratory operations.
  • Skilled in tissue processing and paraffin embedding, microtomy, and tissue staining.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle data efficiently. 
  • Ability to analyze, document, and interpret laboratory and statistical data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multiple laboratory managers, research study coordinators, and medical faculty across clinical and research operations.
  • Willingness to accept training in new techniques, technologies and computer software applications.
Preferred Education: Master's degree

Preferred Experience:
More than four years in research or clinical laboratory setting with direct experience in methods and procedures related to study design, project coordination, regulatory compliance, tissue banking, and histopathological techniques.
