Position Summary
Under the direction of the laboratory investigator, the Research Technologist II will conduct experiments, manage research endeavors, and analyze results according to established protocols within a fast-paced laboratory dedicated to interactions between ticks, tick-borne pathogens, and human skin. Responsibilities include maintaining bacterial, cell culture, and tick stocks and colonies, designing and executing experiments, interpreting, and organizing data, and offering recommendations crucial for project and lab success. The Research Technologist will also maintain general lab inventories and ordering and other duties as needed.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering, or related scientific field

  • Clear and effective communication with supervisors, professional colleagues, and students.
  • Ability to confront lab issues in a timely manner.
Preferred Education: Master's degree or equivalent

Preferred Experience:
  • More than two years of experience in research laboratory environment with preference to experience in cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, and/or vector biology related scientific field.
  • Specific experience laboratory techniques including cell culture, bacterial culturing and isolation, molecular biology, and/or tissue engineering.

  • Enjoys laboratory work and is particularly passionate about bacteria, ticks, human tissues, and molecular microbiology.
