What we are looking for:

Physicians Mutualâ?? s Corporate Strategy team plays an essential role in the development and execution of the Companyâ??s innovation, strategy, and corporate development agenda. We are seeking an Intern with interest in the fields of consulting, finance, and/or management to join our team.

Physicians Mutual offers a 10-week summer internship program, designed for college juniors and seniors. The program provides the Intern with the opportunity to gain experience operating as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and cross-functional teams. As an Intern, you will conduct market research to proactively identify industry trends, leverage strategic and financial frameworks to assess inorganic growth opportunities (e.g., M&A, strategic partnerships), and support the execution of strategic initiatives.

Our program responsibilities: 

• Partners with internal teams to explore strategic questions / problem statements and support solutioning through rigorous analysis
• Develops informative and compelling narratives based upon quantitative and qualitative research to inform and influence business decisions
• Participates in the identification and investigation of inorganic growth opportunities (e.g., M&A, strategic partnerships) aligned to the enterprise strategy
• Researches and supports the development of detailed business cases (strategic and financial) to articulate the impact of market opportunities presented
• Presents business case and recommends activities in alignment with the enterprise strategy to stakeholders as appropriate
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and workstreams to define, develop, and execute strategic projects in support of the enterprise strategy

Our requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or possess commensurate experience (prior experience in consulting, financial services, or project management a plus)
• Structured problem solver with the ability to think through large complex problems, identify key drivers, and break down the problem into small sub-components for analysis
• Strong communicator adept at developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
• Nimble learner able to learn new topics / domains quickly and actively experiments to find new solutions
• Advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) and other tools for analysis, financial modeling, presentations, and other communications
• Clear track record of achievement
