Responsibilities
 

OPPD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer III to join our Transmission Operations team. The Engineer III - Transmission Operations will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and safe operation of our Transmission System, as well as the effective utilization of transmission capacity. The successful candidate will provide expert technical consulting to the Transmission Operations Department through comprehensive engineering analysis.

 

Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with applicable NERC Operating Reliability Standards, analyzing and tracking transmission outage data, and conducting planned outage analysis. The role also involves scheduling and coordinating outages, preparing operational guides for constrained electric facilities, and providing technical advisory services to both internal and external customers.

 

Additionally, the Engineer III will offer expert technical advice to planning, engineering, and construction departments, work closely with Key Account Executives, Field Supervisors, and Corporate Communications to deliver exceptional customer service, and participate in local and regional operations committees as needed.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Possess an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Five (5) years of equivalent engineering work experience.   Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience
  • Have the ability to perform complex engineering tasks and perform intricate studies
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of electrical engineering or electrical power engineering.
  • Excellent analytical, computer, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's license
  • NERC Operator Certification is required within one year of employment.
  • Manage a 24/7 on-call rotating shift in support of the Transmission System Operator

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Electric Utility Operations, Planning, Design, and Construction Practices
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer License is preferred
  • An MSEE is desirable

Salary Grade: S5

Minimum: $94,112

Midpoint: $117,640
