As the principal Lead Software Development Engineer in Test, you will guide the creation of the team’s risk-based quality strategy and drive the application of best available tools and practices. We are looking for an individual with a collaborative mindset, an inquiring nature, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to act as a mentor in quality best practices within an Agile team.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
This role involves both leading and contributing to technical work. As a leader you will help define the standards and automation strategies for all software development teams. As a contributor, you will help develop prototypes and join teams directly to learn how to enhance processes.

Leadership

  1. Develop and communicate a clear vision for quality assurance (QA) that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  2. Lead initiatives to continuously improve testing processes and methodologies and recommend tools across all software teams.
  3. Establish and enforce quality standards, data-driven metrics, best practices, and guidelines for testing to ensure consistent and high-quality deliverables.
  4. Collaborate with architecture, senior developers, and leadership to ensure our development and testing pipeline is fast, well-tested, and has multiple testing environments.
  5. Assist with defining and developing test automation strategy and framework for testing multiple platforms such as web, mobile, and desktop.
  6. Work closely with teams to establish repeatable validation tests and active application monitoring that support a foundation for CI/CD processes and infrastructure.

Technical Work

  1. Drive the creation of an automated test suite that supports the development and confidence of your team’s Product and new feature changes.
  2. Lead the application of quality engineering practices for a development team.
  3. Maintain an optimized, scalable testing pipeline that is efficient and balances benchmarks with time-to-deployment.
  4. Work to continuously improve the speed, efficiency, and scalability of our tests, systems, and environments.
  5. Maintain a ‘test to break’ mindset. Proactively communicate defects/issues to team members.
  6. Mentor team members on quality practices within their role. Work closely with developers to ensure code is highly tested throughout the CI/CD pipeline.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance methodologies, testing best/emerging practices, automation frameworks, tools, and processes.
Proficiency in configuring and managing various tool suites for automation and testing.
Technical experience with multiple platforms such as web, mobile apps, and preferably experience with JavaScript-based UIs and REST APIs.
Experience with performance and load testing methodologies and tools.
Familiarity with SaaS concepts and experience in eCommerce environments.
Knowledge of data strategies for quality and supporting tools (SQL).
Detail-oriented, organized, and methodical in your approach with strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to resolve technical and non-technical issues with minimum supervision or assistance.
Curiosity-driven mindset with a proactive approach to experiment and optimize software quality.
A comprehensive understanding and application of SDLC processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field or 4-7 years of quality engineering experience within an enterprise-wide environment.
Experience in deploying test engineering within Continuous Integration pipelines. Experience with Continuous Deployment methodologies.
Experience with tools such as BlazeMeter, Postman, JMeter, JUnit/NUnit, Selenium, Gherkin, Cucumber, Ava, Mocha, Enzyme, Cypress, test orchestration tools, Jenkins.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands.
Travel to customer locations including overnight, business air travel, and car rental.
