The Campus Minister for Retreat Life provides leadership and execution for a dynamic undergraduate retreat program that advances spiritual growth and Ignatian formation. Rooted in Creightonâ??s Jesuit, Catholic mission, this role is responsible for expanding both the scope and reach of retreat offerings, with particular attention to engaging a diverse range of undergraduate students, including those not traditionally connected to Campus Ministry.
In collaboration with Campus Ministry colleagues, the Campus Minister evaluates the alignment of existing retreat programs with the principles of Ignatian spirituality and the broader goals of undergraduate formation. They identify opportunities for innovation and growth, develop new and/or reimagine existing retreat models, and ensure that all offerings intentionally foster reflection, discernment, community, and encounter with God in the context of studentsâ?? lived experiences.
The Campus Minister designs and implements a comprehensive assessment strategy for retreat programming. This includes articulating clear learning outcomes, developing tools to evaluate student experience and impact, analyzing data to identify strengths and areas for growth, and using findings to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
A central responsibility of this role is the recruitment, formation, and supervision of student leaders who serve as retreat coordinators and facilitators. The Campus Minister cultivates student leadership through intentional formation in Ignatian spirituality, accompaniment, and peer ministry, empowering students to co-create meaningful retreat experiences and to serve as leaders within the broader Campus Ministry community.
The Campus Minister also oversees the administrative and logistical dimensions of retreat planning and execution. This includes managing registration processes, coordinating with retreat centers, purchasing supplies, developing timelines, and ensuring the seamless implementation of all retreat experiences. Strong organizational and project management skills are essential to this work.
The Campus Minister demonstrates a deep understanding of Ignatian spirituality and integrates its core practicesâ??reflection, discernment, and accompanimentâ??throughout all retreat experiences. They actively seek opportunities to broaden participation, remove barriers to engagement, and create pathways for students to encounter retreats as a meaningful part of their formation journey.
The Campus Minister reports to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Campus Ministry.
