Preference will be given to current departmental employees.
Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer, Security & Operations Manager, or designee, performs a variety of skilled, technical work related to all aspects of information security, including but not limited to, monitoring, incident management and IT risk mitigation requiring considerable responsibility and independent judgment.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervise and provide direction to subordinate Information Security staff as assigned/directed.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Information Security Program and help define the roadmap for maturity of the program.
Identify, assess, and respond to emerging threats and vulnerabilities including risk of likelihood and impact, using Threat Intelligence. Assist with mitigation and prevention of vulnerabilities.
Lead efforts in Incident Response and Incident Management procedures. Monitor and provide operational support for security alerts and events.
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to document, implement, monitor, and manage IT controls.
Promote security awareness and cultivate employees’ adherence to information security best practices.
Review and update information security policies, procedures, standards, and other documentation.
Maintain Incident Response Plan and Information Security documentation repository.
Analyze and identify opportunities to automate information security practices and controls.
Assist in IT Risk Assessment, Vendor Management, and IT Risk Management programs.
Evaluate effectiveness and perform internal testing of security controls.
Coordinate written responses to RFIs, RFPs on IT security, controls, and compliance areas.
Maintain current knowledge of Information Security trends, tools, and processes as well as any regulatory and professional advances.
Recommend improvements to vulnerability management program.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, and agencies.
Peripheral Duties
Acts as a contact person for Sarpy County concerning Information Security related items.
Participates in meetings.
Participates as a member of various committees, as assigned.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Information technology, MIS, or closely related field preferred. *
Four (4) years bona fide work experience in Information Security experience preferred. *
Information Security certifications (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), etc.) preferred
*Approved combination of training and/or work experience that would provide equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered and substituted for the stated education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of securing and use of various desktop, server and mobile operating systems
Advanced knowledge of securing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and networking components
Considerable knowledge in the use of security tools
Ability to work multiple concurrent projects/tasks; ability to listen, follow and recreate issues over the phone or via email
Ability to work within a team and independently
Ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions
Ability to navigate stressful situations while maintaining composure
Ability to understand and follow exacting verbal and written instructions
Ability to prioritize work and carry out assigned projects to completion
Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to, multiline phone, computer, printer, scanner, copier, and fax
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Driver’s License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of “acceptable driver standards” as defined by the County.
Must pass an extensive background check and be a United States citizen.
