Certified MA Position Description

The Certified Medical Assistant at Momenta Pain Care is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians in order to achieve optimal patient care. The MA assists physicians in daily activities such as preparing patients for visits, examinations, and procedures. The MA supports physicians through a variety of tasks related to patient visits, procedures, medical record management, organization, and communication.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients health history
  • Receive and direct phone calls, check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Prepare and fax patients medical records when requested from hospitals, physicians, and attorneys
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications
  • Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering supplies

 

Skills/Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Certification Program required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work well with physicians and co-workers
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) understanding
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule:  Monday to Friday

Experience: six months MA experience preferred
