POSITION PURPOSE:

Collects requirements, studies business models and decomposes models and requirements to contribute to detailed technical solution designs and specifications appropriate for their assigned architectures and business areas. Assists with configuration of technology solutions and systems to fulfill business objectives. Ensures the quality delivery of business technology solutions by developing test plans and coordinating and conducting functional and technical testing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to the design, development and implementation processes of technical solutions for assigned projects and work orders that provide value. Coordinates and conducts analysis of technical and business requirements. Recommends appropriate methodology to support the SDLC based on resources and business needs. Elicits requirements, studies business models, and decomposes those models and requirements to contribute to detailed technical solution designs & specifications appropriate for their assigned architectures and business areas.
  • Manages scope, priority, and schedule related to assigned business technology requests, releases, and/or projects. Supports process improvement as assigned. Assists with root cause analyses on business and technical problems in support of Woodmen’s processes to identify and implement technical solutions to improve quality and satisfaction.
  • Analyzes technical and business requirements. Translates business requirements into technical solution models using data flow diagrams, process flows, or other modeling methods. Works in both traditional structured and object-oriented development environments utilizing multiple methodologies ranging from waterfall to agile. Works with teams to convert business requirements into functional and technical designs.
  • Participates in enterprise-wide testing efforts for projects and work orders including all technology and business teams at all levels as assigned. Develops test plans and performs testing to ensure that technical requirements are met.
  • Assists in preparing and presenting solution proposals directly to the business or as part of a team consisting of developers and other technical and business staff.
  • Helps ensure team members meet commitments. Trains others on systems and solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

SR. LEVEL

  • Leads the design, development and implementation processes of technical solutions for assigned projects and work orders that provide value. Directs and conducts analysis of technical and business requirements. Determines appropriate methodology to support the SDLC based on resources and business needs. Elicits requirements, studies business models, and decomposes those models and requirements to create detailed technical solution designs & specifications appropriate for their assigned architectures and business areas. Presents technical solutions in business terms that fulfill requirements.
  • Recommends and presents solution proposals directly to the business or as part of a team consisting of developers and other technical and business staff.
  • Directs the work of project / work-order effort team members as assigned to ensure that assignments are completed. Helps to eliminate road blocks and ensures team members meet commitments. Trains and mentors others on analysis techniques, systems, and solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related area or equivalent demonstrable knowledge gained through related work experience and/or studies.
  • Knowledge of BABOK, PMBOK or a similar best practice body of knowledge.
  • Knowledge in software quality assurance best practices and web-based requirement and test management tools.
  • Ability to obtain skills and knowledge of technical system analysis, design and construction methods, trends and practices.
  • Results-oriented self-starter with ability and willingness to learn how systems and processes work and why they work the way they do. Ability to see the big picture and consider multiple perspectives.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the uses and operation of assigned systems and provide strong support of those systems to business users while serving their assigned areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group (executives, management, technical staff, and subject matter experts). Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and with business customers
  • Excellent negotiation skills. Exhibits courage to challenge requests and positively offer alternative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and train effectively. Solid strategic client management skills.
  • Strong logical thinking. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Well organized with time management skills

SR. LEVEL

  • Five or more years technical business systems analysis experience
  • Three or more years project coordination/management experience including knowledge of PMBOK or a similar best practice body of knowledge.
  • Three or more years of experience with traditional and rapid oriented software engineering methodologies with a strong preference towards documented experience with iterative development, object-oriented development, test driven development and continuous release practices.
  • Experience and knowledge in software quality assurance best practices and web-based requirement and test management tools.
  • Ability to maintain current skills and knowledge of technical system analysis, design and construction methods, trends and practices.
  • Results-oriented self-starter with ability, willingness, and desire to learn how systems and processes work and why they work the way they do. Ability to see the big picture and consider multiple perspectives.
  • Ability to understand the architectures behind different systems and the ways they can be customized or developed.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the uses and operation of assigned systems and provide strong support of those systems to business users while serving their assigned areas.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Financial service industry experience
  • Proven experience with lightweight elicitation & elaboration methods such as user stories while also having experience with use cases and other related modeling techniques and methods.
