Job Description

Software QA Engineers (SQAEs) work with cross-functional teams and others to test the products from the user level perspective as well as deeper levels of the system, using both manual and automated approaches. They are able to understand software internals and common system infrastructure and the tools for both. They also assure the correctness and completeness of the product with each change from the concept through post-release stage. Our QA Engineers use multiple testing techniques and approaches:  black box, white box, integration, system, regression, security, and performance testing.  

Our SQAEs are an important part of cross-functional teams and work with the software development engineers to understand features and the technical implementation of solutions. They also work with product managers and user experience designers to understand customer usage and expectations. The SQAEs will create and enhance test frameworks, cases, and suites for the product. The will also create and run suites, which approximate real-world environments and conditions. 

The SQAEs confirm and report on the quality of the product, which consists of web, client/server and mobile technologies. Testing may be:  manual, automated, scripted, exploratory and unscripted, or any combination for both planned and emergency changes. They identify, log, track, and report defects and assist with resolution of defects. Additionally, they will analyze metrics for trends and realization of process improvement opportunities.


  • Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience is required. 
  • Four years of experience in a comparable role as a Quality Assurance Analyst, Test Engineer, Software Tester, etc., with a similar level of responsibilities and project complexity is required. 
  • One year of formal or informal team leadership and mentoring experience is required. 
  • Two years of experience executing automated test scripts required. Experience creating and/or writing automated test scripts is required. 
  • Two years of experience within a software deployment or information technology environment is required. 
  • Experience with a variety of testing, performance and automation test tools such as TestRail, Jenkins, Selenium Web Driver, Selenium IDE, Eclipse, Jira, etc. is required. 
  • Previous work experience within an IT environment and familiarity of IT hardware, practices, and methodologies required. 
  • Previous work experience within an Agile environment practicing SCRUM, Kanban, or Lean is required. 
  • Previous experience within the transportation industry is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities - understand and conceptualize applications from both a technical/programming perspective with a business point of view. 
  • Understanding of object oriented programming and design.
  • Experience with multiple platforms, including; Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
