A Brief Summary of This Position

This position will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of product and be able to quickly communicate potential shipping and receiving issues. Individual will be interacting with customers and truck drivers and coordinating special handling of material.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for receiving, unloading and storing incoming product
  • Must be able to properly identify materials and product being loaded and unloaded
  • Will be responsible for proper signage on paperwork.
  • Responsible for product storage in warehouse.
  • Responsible for inventory count on material.
  • Responsible for inspection of material received.
  • Knowledge of department and plant processes.
  • Perform safety audits.
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S.
  • Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability of attention to detail of product and processes.
  • Maintains an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not accepted.
  • Performs other duties directed by leaders and management.
  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures.

Other important Details about the Role:

  • Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and vendors in a professional manner
  • Must be able to understand the schedule and inventory of materials and inventory counts
  • Identify and report safety hazards
  • Load and unload trailers and trolleys
  • Have the ability to understanding load processing and proper load building
  • Assist with general plant clean up and housekeeping
  • Have the ability to train others
  • This position reports to the Department Supervisor

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Must have good literacy skills to be able to read and write
  • Computer literacy using MS Outlook and Office and be able to create PO's
  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers and vendors in a professional manner
  • Pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • High awareness for safety with the ability to wear all required PPE and work in a non-temperature controlled environment, as well as with exposure to outdoors
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to be company trained and authorized to operate equipment and machinery
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs
  • Self-Motivated ability to be internally inspired to perform task to the best of one's ability using his or hers own drive or initiative
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3+ years' experience shipping and receiving
  • Certification of mobile equipment used.
