A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Pricing Manager will support the Irrigation business in gathering, analyzing and interpreting market data, quantitative sales data and qualitative customer feedback in order to propose pricing policy recommendations for all division product offerings for the Irrigation industry.� The position will develop & utilize pricing tools that will assist in the analysis and presentation of pricing data.� They will establish and execute the divisionâ��s long term strategic pricing strategies.� The Pricing Manager should take a lead role in ensuring division meets gross margin objectives through pricing tools, processes and controls.� The position will also be key in developing and presenting pricing theory and strategy education sessions throughout the division.� The Pricing Manager should be a subject matter expert in use of data visualization software. � Position expected to be a SME in use of any future pricing software put in place and will help define and promote the use of such pricing software to consumers of pricing data throughout the division.
Essential Functions:
- This position reports to the Vice President of Finance, Irrigation and has no direct or indirect reports
- This role requires up to 20% travel (internationally/domestically), including overnight stays
- Gathers and interprets quantitative data and qualitative feedback to perform strategic analyses and provide recommendations for optimizing pricing guidance to Customer Service and Sales personnel for gross margin maximization
- Partners with Product Management, Sales, and Marketing in developing profitability measurements by customer, customer segment and product line to optimize prioritization of division resources and takes a lead role in gathering, measuring, and reporting this data
- Assesses market opportunities and revenue/margin potential for all product lines in various market segments
- Continually review and analyze the division�s product pricing compared to published or disclosed prices of competitors in the marketplace
- Create the pricing software in conjunction with IT and responsible for managing a profitable pricing process
- Assist in development of pricing options to optimize customer value and meet competitive opportunities
- Provide recommendations based on the analysis to changes to product pricing, key account pricing, new product pricing, and service pricing
- Develop dynamic pricing model, determining optimum market price and price elasticity for Irrigation products.
- Taking into account variables such as market segment demand, profitability targets, sales team input, competitive price points, channel input, and Valmont costs, this individual will establish and maintain a consistent methodology for project analysis which ensures short and long term division profitability
- Monthly analysis and reporting of global Irrigation gross margins; providing updates on relevant analysis and trends in profitability by customer, channel, product line, sales representative, manufacturing site, market segment, competitor, etc.
- Assist Irrigation division with annual strategic planning process by providing data and performing research assignments
- Perform profitability analyzes and make recommendations for relevant, substantiated changes
- Develops and presents educational pricing strategy/development/framework presentations to enhance knowledge and focus on importance of pricing support throughout division

- Partners with marketing and customer services team and with others in the division to promote and encourage a safe work environment
Other Important Details about the Role:
- Support division in maintaining a strong internal and external customer orientation by interfacing with product management, marketing, and sales teams as well as external customers to gather and review competitive activity and pricing trends. Helps to partner with these individuals as needed to establish or modify division pricing programs.
- Participates in pricing industry events and conferences and remains current in the latest publications related to pricing management.� Contributes within these groups via written papers and speaking opportunities as they present themselves.
- Leads the training initiative for improved pricing performance through collaboration with the Learning Management System (LMS) team to deliver regular training sessions to improve pricing practices.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience � 3 to 7 years of experience in an engineered-product, B to B environment is desired.
- Superb analytical and strong presentation skills are a must; excellent communication skills are required; ability to work in a complex environment with a high energy level is essential.Ã?Â
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications; expertise in Excel or similar spreadsheet software is a must.Ã?Â
- Strong working knowledge of business intelligence and/or analytical/statistical software such as Tableau, Microsoft BI, Oracle, Alteryx, etc.Ã?Â
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and related systems.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills � Understands and applies mathematical concepts; strong understanding of business math, common economic indicators and business metrics is required.
- Reasoning Ability � Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be a self-starter and a highly organized individual.
- Lead by example; demonstrate passion and integrity in your work, drive continuous improvement and deliver results.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor�s in business, economics or business statistics
- MBA
- Strong knowledge of SQL languages
- Apply Agile development methodologies and understanding of SCRUM Master role
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting.� The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.� � � Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.� No travel requirements for this position.� The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.� The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.� Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.� Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
