How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Weld Trainee position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will has at least basic welding skill and knowledge with a desire to become a full time welder. Additionally, you will�

  • Participating in classroom and hands on training to learn to fuse (weld) metal structural components together by means of arc welding using one process in the fabrication of steel electrical poles
  • Use measuring tape, levels, squares, and angle finders to measure distances and angles
  • Use motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble product
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate professional competencies, certification, licenses, etc. necessary to perform the job
  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management
  • Participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to use common manufacturing math such as adding and subtracting
  • Able to read a tape measure accurately
  • Basic weld skills and knowledge
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
  • Must be able to pass the internal weld certification test at the completion of the training program

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • 1 year of previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
  • The ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assurance
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
