A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is looking for a Marketing Intern for their Irrigation Division. The Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting with graphic design (both print and digital) and photo manipulation/editing. The intern will focus on delivering high-quality marketing deliverables in the pursuit of strengthening the Valley brand, increasing awareness and generating demand. The intern will also assist with other marketing projects as needed. This position is perfect for someone who is looking to work in a fast-paced environment and wanting to learn more about the marketing industry. The candidate will not only learn about what it takes to make a marketing program successful, but also will have the opportunity to see it from start to finish. 

Valmontâ??s internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Understanding of design principles and ability to ensure visual consistency of the brand across all materials.
  • Design brochures, flyers, postcards, digital signage, logos and other material within the branding guidelines
  • Experience with image editing, compression, file correction and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of specific file types, including which are best to use for production.
  • Fluency in file size requirements for social media, including cover images, profile photos, shared images, etc.
  • Able to take direction and work independently on multiple assigned projects.
  • Clearly and consistently communicate between internal teams
  • Develop, monitor, and enforce project timelines, revising as needed to ensure key milestones are met
  • Monitor and report on projects to key stakeholders, keeping all informed of the status and aware of changes in a timely manner
  • Open and assign tasks in JIRA for marketing projects
  • Coordinate with internal staff, vendors, media and others to establish needs for events
  • Maintain and build comprehensive databases of industry contacts, vendors, and venues for events

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Assist with meeting and event planning (i.e. Marketing summit, trade shows, etc.)
  • Monitor paid advertising in print publications
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Marketing Team

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience and background Or MBA Student
  • Strong design skills reflected in a current portfolio of school assignments or work product.
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational skills
  • Work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated individual with a desire to tackle challenging opportunities
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Articulate, strong interpersonal skills, team oriented and personable
  • Positive attitude
  • Self-starter
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Premier Pro, and After Effects)
  • Collaborative and creative
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office â?? Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • Experience with HTML and CSS, a plus.
  • Interest in international marketing
  • Agriculture/manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.    Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  No travel requirements for this position.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
