A Brief Summary of This Position:

The site Lean Manager is responsible and accountable for continuous improvement and efficiencies across the siteâ??s operations and processes. Likely to lead a team of people and have budgetary/cost reporting responsibility. Likely to be an expert in lean methodologies with a Master Black Belt or equivalent qualification. Coaches, trains and assesses others.  Incumbent is required to work with the site leadership, develop, set the pace and implement business transformational and continuous improvement strategy with sensitivity towards the organizational structure, commercial approach, culture, people and processes.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement Site Lean implementation plan in in accordance with the NA Ops Lean Roadmap
• Coach and promote Site leadership in Lean thinking and understanding
• Develop Lean structure for cascading Lean training and methodology within Site
• Create, educate, implement and drive Lean Roadmap as the philosophy to tie business goals for the Site to the Lean implementation strategy
• Further enhance the Lean learning and use of effective tools in collaboration with the Regional/Divisional Lean Leader to improve the business, measure success and deliver Lean process improvement results throughout the Site
• Build strong relationships throughout the Site to establish trust and credibility in the methodologies of Lean
• Must be able to assess, implement and deliver effective Lean training throughout the Site and leverage the experience of Lean resources at all levels
• Must have the ability to lead without direct authority and ability to manage up, horizontally and downward
• Have strong small and large group facilitation and communication skills to lead, involve and motivate and maintain energy focus of all employees at all levels
• Must be an agent of change that can question and challenge current standards and working methods
• Must have knowledge and  understanding of core Lean Tools, methodology and principles based on the methodology and principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS)
• Possess the ability to create a self-sustaining culture of continuous improvement  where all employees are treated with mutual respect, their ideas and contributions are recognized and valued throughout the Site
• Manage, develop and maintain the training processes and conduct safety specific new employee orientations

Other Important Details about the Role:

• Leverage and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other WASTE throughout the Site, while also providing expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
• Guide and facilitate employee development throughout the Site in various Lean tools, Lean production, and Kaizen leadership
• Provide understanding to Site Leadership on how to best utilize Lean countermeasures tools Lean countermeasures including but not limited to 5S, VSM, TPM, cell design, standard work, Kanban and systematic problem solving
• Coach Site Leadership on Lean philosophies and Lean leadership
• Identify appropriate improvement opportunities and provide relevant training, coaching and facilitation throughout the Site for Lean projects linked to Regional/Divisional Lean Roadmap
• Lead/facilitate productive Kaizen events throughout the Site
• Define and facilitate improvement activities in accordance to the site Lean Roadmap throughout the Region/Division and based on â??Standardize-Do-Check-Act/Adjustâ?? (SDCA) methodology and in accordance to the site Lean Roadmap throughout the Site

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Five years of demonstrated lean manufacturing experience
• Possess Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) certification
• Experience using Lean methodology in a manufacturing environment
• Experience utilizing Environmental Health and Safety database programs
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Can be used for the majority of administrative positions

In addition to an office setting, the incumbent also spends a portion of his/her time outside during all seasons of the year and in the manufacturing areas.   The incumbent is expected to wear all necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), as required.  This position is  exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat and cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, fire, smoke, unstable debris, confined spaces, and working in high areas. Some travel to domestic locations may be required (5 percent).

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
