A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is seeking a Data Privacy Analyst Intern to join the Corporate Shared Services Data Privacy & AppSOD Team.  The intern will assist the Global Data Privacy Program Lead with the planning, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of a global data privacy program (GDPP).  This includes but is not limited to information privacy data mappings, sensitive data designations, processing activities, privacy rights automation and assessment deployment process.  The intern will also be trained on the OneTrust software that is used to manage the GDPP.  Other requirements include learning the data privacy management concepts, supporting the socialization of the GDPP across the organization, assisting with the research on data privacy regulations and supporting the continued rollout of the GDPP.

Valmontâ??s internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, job shadowing, meetings and interaction with cross functional IT and business teams.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the IT Manager / Global Data Privacy Program Lead and has no direct reports or travel expectations
  • Flexible schedule to be arranged by manager
  • Assist with the continued implementation of the Global Data Privacy Program across the enterprise
  • Assist with the management of the GDPP intranet page
  • Assist with the development and delivery of content for awareness training activities through Valmont University and lunch and learn sessions
  • Assist with the development of plans, documentation, templates, and aids used to support the centralization and standardization of the GDPP
  • Assist with the implementation of data privacy requirements in support of digital business platform application upgrades, conversions, migrations, and acquisitions
  • Assist with the analysis of processes and functions to develop and implement appropriate privacy data measures

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Undergraduate or graduate level standing pursuing a Bachelorâ??s degree or Masterâ??s degree in a relevant field, preferably with a background in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, Business or related disciplines
  • Ability to work 10 hours weekly when school is in session and 40 hours weekly when school is not in session
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and work well in a remote team environment
  • Basic knowledge of project management or interest in learning
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel, learn and deliver results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting, however given the pandemic work is currently done remotely until further notification.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.  Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  No travel requirements for this position.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
