The Yard Material Handler works diligently to maintain a productive flow of the yard for incoming and outgoing truck loads and company inventory. This position will move material and inventory around the yard as necessary using the required tools and machinery. This position is in an outdoor/indoor setting with various weather elements.

  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to move containers on/off the loading docks while maintaining a neat and organized yard.
  • Lead and direct incoming truck drivers to the correct area and personnel.
  • Load outgoing trucks and unload incoming trucks per department standard.
  • Coordinate material loading of company trucks.
  • Check loads after the loading process to verify adequate use of load locks, straps, and bulkheads.
  • Moves product and material throughout the yard/building with a forklift and pallet jack, ensuring placement of incorrect areas.
  • Organizes raw materials and work in progress (WIP) that are stored in the yard.
  • Ability to understand and satisfy job requirements, including safety, based on work instructions and procedures.
  • Inform the manager of material used throughout the day.
  • Report any problems found on equipment throughout the day to the manager.
  • Effectively maneuver equipment with obstacles and limited space.
  • Follow manager direction to ensure the correct equipment is selected for loading of product.
  • Move completed weldments from the welding area to the storage or staging area in the yard. 
  • Prepare poles and associated products and materials for processing, including mounting of jigs and fixtures.
  • Remove finished product from processed jigs and fixtures with a forklift and apply shipping dunnage.
  • Performs routine clean-up of the yard.
  • Provide general support, including moving material and use of pallet banding, for the shipping and receiving area.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

*Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements*

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

Required: 1 year of forklift and pallet jack experience

Preferred: 1 year of banding and pallet wrapping

Preferred: 1 year working in a manufacturing environment

Pay:$16 - $19 hr. Depending on Experience
