Brief Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs routine, preventative, and on-demand maintenance and repairs/replacements on all plant facilities and equipment, including but not limited to paint guns and equipment, water spray booths, batch and conveyor ovens, conveyor mechanical systems, and overhead cranes, and responds promptly to maintenance production calls.

The Applied Coating Technology Maintenance team operates across three shifts. We are currently hiring for 2nd or 3rd shift:

2nd Shift - 1:30PM to 10:00PM, Monday to Friday, with periodic overtime - Shift Differential eligible
3rd Shift - 10:00PM to 6:30PM, Sunday to Thursday, with periodic overtime - Shift Differential eligible

Essential Functions

• Partner with Supervisor, Maintenance and Production team members to communicate and respond promptly to routine and on-demand maintenance requests

• Performs preventative maintenance and basic cleaning and repair of equipment, including forklifts, paint guns, water curtain spray booths, batch and conveyor ovens, conveyor mechanical systems, and overhead cranes

• Use of basic problem solving skills to test, inspect, repair, troubleshoot and re-assemble basic plant equipment, components, and systems

• Work with and maintain small hand tools, such as tape measures, saws, drills

• Fabricate and repair structures and components by use of welding and cutting tools

• Inspect and maintain all safety equipment and comply with company safety policies

• Maintain parking lot and exterior surfaces of the premises, including some snow removal

• Maintain clean work spaces by performing work space clean-up and general housekeeping

• Participates in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks

Other Details about the Position

• This position reports to the Maintenance Lead

• This position has no direct reports

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one to three years of related experience in a commercial / industrial maintenance role

• Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds

• Forklift certified, or ability to become forklift certified

• Complex problem solving and critical thinking skills

• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals

• Able to interpret and fabricate components based on basic blueprints or specification sheets

• Flexible and open to growth

• Positive, team-oriented attitude

Additional Qualifications

• Welding experience, or experience with hot work

• Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility

• Previous experience in a coatings facility or plant

• Previous experience in an ISO or LEAN environment

• Bilingual in Hmong, Karen, Vietnamese, or Spanish helpful, but not required
