A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Associate Marketing Specialist position assists with the development and implementation of the comprehensive marketing communication strategy for Valmont inclusive of its business segments. This position works closely with cross functional teams including creative, research, and outside partners so it is critical that this individual display strong collaboration skills within a team environment. The ideal candidate should be results-oriented and innovative with an analytical mind and excellent research skills. The Associate Marketing Specialist will have responsibility for the administration and project management of a wide variety of exciting marketing initiatives; allowing this individual to make a meaningful contribution to the organization while providing opportunities for career development. The work performed in this position will help in planning, implementing, and monitoring marketing, branding, and advertising activities across multiple channels to improve the brand's image and increase stakeholder engagement. This position will support ongoing brand efforts, new brand and product launches, HR recruitment efforts, management of Valmont-owned trademarks and registrations along with other marketing activities.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports into the Marketing Director, Brand Strategy and has no direct or indirect reports
  • This role requires up to 15% travel including overnight stays
  • Supports the development and execution of a globally aligned brand marketing communication strategy for Valmont and its segments
  • Gains experience in leading and motivating cross-functional internal and/or external teams in the development and execution of marketing for specific brand initiatives
  • Develops and evaluates best-in-class, brand-aligned communication channel-specific creative executions as relevant
  • Updates and manages marketing communications materials such as digital assets, PPT's, brochures, etc.
  • Analyzes data and analytics across marketing efforts to enable data-driven decisions
  • Generates reports on brand performance and marketing projects
  • Responsible for ongoing research and analysis of competition, industries and stakeholder insights to inform future marketing efforts as well as identify new opportunities to achieve brand goals
  • Experience in planning and managing digital campaigns across multiple platforms inclusive of social media (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram)
  • Updates job knowledge by keeping up with latest technology trends in marketing, participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelor's or Associate's Degree with 1+ year of relevant experience or 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, digital marketing, pricing, sales, research, project management, research, data & analytics or product management
  • Computer skills - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present materials for knowledge transfer and education
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Must have strong research and analytical skills to analyze metrics and create reports
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills
  • Creative thinker with a good understanding of market trends
  • Must be a collaborator and work well in a team-oriented environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications or a related field
  • Proficiency in Excel and demonstrated experience with Google Analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in brand marketing
  • Firm grasp on various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices including social, digital, website and lead gen with proven results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Travel expectations are 15% domestic, overnight travel.
