This position will require an individual to work closely with the Maintenance Foreman. The Maintenance Mechanic will assist in the responsible of making the necessary repairs, installing, and maintaining machinery and mechanic equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment. In addition, all Tuscaloosa personnel receive cross-training and will be expected to work in any part of the plant as required by management. This individual works under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman/Lead, Plant Supervisors and reports directly to the site Plant Manager.


This individual have knowledge on how to repair various devices, machines, and equipment in the office and the plant. This individual must observe mechanical devices in operation to test their performance and listen for any abnormalities. Must have a strong knowledge of industrial electrical with motor control knowledge. This individual must dismantle devices to gain access to defective parts, examine the form and texture of parts to detect imperfections, repair and/or replace defective parts of equipment, and install special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools and/or power tools. This individual must also conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections throughout the plant to ensure all equipment is operating properly. This individual must check the oil, coolant, gas, etc in various equipment, as well as, lubricate and clean equipment and equipment parts. Also, this individual must operate various production machines and equipment.

In addition, all Tuscaloosa employees are expected to assist other crews with other departmental work and cleaning. Cross-training results in a flexible and active workforce and offers employees the opportunity to see and develop a wide variety of skills.


Education/Training - Literacy and use of measuring devices required. A high school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience/Knowledge - At least one year's experience working with or around similar machinery is required. Varying levels of Industrial Maintenance knowledge and skills. Welding experience is preferred. Powered Industrial Operated Vehicles (Forklift, Loader), Lockout / Tag out, and Confined Spaces Certification required.

Competencies - Ability to read tape measure, ability to learn on the job in a fast-paced environment, ability to read and comprehend prints, and flexibility are required.


Cuts, scrapes, pinches, scratches, and bruises are all risks. Falls, slips, trips, flying and/or falling debris, weld flash or burn, chemical exposure, noise levels are also possible hazards. Care and attention must be paid when using all tools. When moving around the shop floor, attention is required in case not-yet-collected debris presents a trip-hazard. Must remain aware of environment for equipment moving overhead or nearby.
