A Brief Summary of This Position

The Machine Operator - Burn Table position is an individual contributor in the Plymouth site. This person must be a highly driven individual that will process material in accordance with shop drawings through the use of designated machines.

Essential Functions

  • Process material in accordance with shop drawings through the use of designated machines
  • Operate automatic burn table machine
  • Load burn table machine programs, as needed, specific to product orders
  • Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine possible resolutions
  • Maintain material traceability
  • Seek opportunities for improvements within the manufacturing department
  • Perform tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime
  • Determine machine maintenance needs and perform light maintenance, as needed
  • Manage your time to efficiently produce quality products within designated work hours
  • Communicate information and provide feedback, in person, with co-workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor &/or Production Manager
  • Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.

  • Must be able to work with other employees to complete job.
  • Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery.
  • The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer.
  • The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge operating burn table/plasma cutter machine
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints/shop drawings
  • Must be able to read a tape measure to within 1/32"
  • Ability to physically lift, push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people.
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

    Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of previous experience in a professional welding position
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • AWS certified welder operator qualification
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.

Educational Background

  • Industrial trade school training in industrial machining
  • 6 months of previous qualified welding experience in a professional, manufacturing environment
  • 6 months of previous CNC machining experience in a professional, manufacturing environment
