A Brief Summary of This Position:

This individual contributor position is responsible for the performance of four basic functions: Site security and safety, Emergency Medical Services, observation of property and equipment for abnormalities, and primary point of contact for employee and non-employee questions related to site access and security. These functions are to be performed with a continual sense of company policy and liability. It is especially important that the incumbent demonstrate the ability to work effectively with the various staff and third-party individuals which they will interact with during the course of their duties. The incumbent's performance contributes to the overall mission of Valmont.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports into the Manager of Protection Services.
  • This role requires the incumbent to be able to work a rotating shift, 48 hours one week and 36 hours the following.
  • Provides Emergency Medical Services.
  • Serves as a source of information for employees and non-employees.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding integrity throughout the performance of the duties assigned.
  • Must possess and use excellent judgment and a sensitive dimension in dealing with questions, problems, and situations requiring direction to solutions and services in the spirit of company policy and goals.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • The Security duties require self-motivation and relentless dedication to confidentiality.
  • Responsible for monitoring CC TV/Security systems, fire systems and remote access monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrate an ability to act on situations with respect to Valmont's policies and goals.
  • Observes, questions, reports and acts on possible improprieties that may occur.
  • Acts swiftly and confidently in emergency settings to gain control and minimize, if not prevent injury, or loss of life. The incumbent must evaluate each call for this service in an accurate and decisive manner in accordance with Nebraska State Medical and Department Protocols. The performance of this duty requires a constant updating of training and protocol.
  • Monitors property and equipment and reports abnormalities or concerns according to defined protocols.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment in dealing with questions, problems, and situations requiring direction to solutions and services. On many occasions the incumbent will temporarily be the company representative with customers and visitors. The incumbent will be expected to direct problems and inquiries to the proper Valmont contacts for resolution. The attitude and demeanor of the incumbent should reflect the concerns and mission of Valmont.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • High School diploma and 2+ years of related work/educational experience. Experience working security duties is preferred.
  • Knowledge in the following areas: basic law, physical security methods, site access control, confidential information control, theft control and investigation, incident investigation, high security lock repair-installation, alarm monitoring and systems, safety procedures and policies, fire protection methods and systems, and C-TPAT procedures.
  • Must possess current state Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license.
  • Must have and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license.
  • Knowledge of emergency first aid and rescue, cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, ambulatory transportation, drug and alcohol testing and policies, and the associated reporting processes.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor reflecting the concerns and mission of Valmont Industries, Inc. is necessary.
  • Annual training review of the facilities hazardous waste management program.
  • Must have the ability to learn and recognize safe and un-safe operating conditions. This may include, but is not limited to, boiler systems, key production equipment, gas storage, and hazardous waste storage.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Criminal Justice Degree (Bachelors or Associates)
  • Certifications (CPP or PSO)
  • Prior experience in a security role.
