Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Saw Coordinator position in the Global ESS DivisionWe are looking for a highly driven individual that will coordinate with fitters and welders ensuring needed supplies are steadily flowing through the production areas.  The incumbent of this position is responsible for moving product throughout the department to various work stations and operating the vertical saw in order to cut pipe to designated lengths and correct angles.  Additionally, you will...

  • Inspect tubes for roundness and straightness before sending into the production process.
  • Understand labor reporting system and uses same to record work completed.
  • Reads blueprints and understands geometric angles to cut pipe according to information on production drawings.
  • Uses common shop mathematics to manufacture product per shop drawings and specifications required.
  • Operates vertical saw to cut to prescribe length and to the correct angle.  Loads product that has been cut onto racks to proceed to next operation.
  • Operates forklift to move product to next operation.  Also uses forklift to empty scrap bin. 
  • Uses various measuring equipment such as and not limited to, tape measure, weld bead gauges, angle finder, and protractor.
  • The ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assurance
  • Lifts repeatedly equipment, material, and parts weighing up to but not to exceed 50 pounds.  Cleans work area daily to assure that work area is free from any dunnage, scrap, steel, slag or debris.
  • Eye and hand coordination necessary to produce quality product, and prevent injury.  Uses proper safety procedures and equipment at all times, to protect one's self and fellow workers.
  • Possesses adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected out-put.
  • Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, etc., necessary to perform job.
  • Seeks out additional responsibilities/tasks to eliminate any downtime.
  • Follow established shop load by priority designations as prescribed by the Dispatchers and Lead persons.
  • Make management aware of any training needs you have.  Consult your management immediately if you are being asked to perform work for which you are not trained and/or are not comfortable doing because of potential safety or risk implications.

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to pass an AWS welder operator qualification test for GMAW process
  • Ability to learn how to operate a vertical saw to cut shafts shafts per blueprint to meet customer requirements such as length, diameter and angle cuts
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Capable of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and hold tight tolerances
  • Ability to be forklift certified within the first 30 days of the job
  • Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with Dispatchers, Lead men, Fitters & Welders

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 years previous experience in a manufacturing  or fabrication environment
  • 1 years previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
