The Project Geologist is responsible for providing technical support and managing projects under the direction of a Managing Geologist. CES geologists participate in multidisciplinary teams to find solutions to challenging groundwater supply and groundwater quality concerns for local to international clients in the public and private sectors. As a subsidiary of Valmont Industries, which is the leading global manufacturer of mechanized irrigation equipment, we evaluate aquifer sustainability for agricultural concerns worldwide. CES geologists also evaluate well suitability and water supplies, investigate contaminant releases, implement groundwater monitoring networks to meet compliance requirements, and evaluate potential long-term impacts of large development projects on groundwater resources for our local/regional clients in the mining, food processing, commercial and public sectors. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about solving hydrogeologic problems, honing and expanding their skills, and communicating results with team members and clients. The responsibilities of the Project Geologist include the following; Plan and develop conceptual and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models for a variety of projects. Lead and participate in field investigations for aquifer characterization, water supply and contaminant transport Prepare technical reports and presentations to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. Communicate with prospective and existing clients to understand their needs and concerns Work independently and with multi-disciplined teams to meet project objectives. Manage projects to exceed client expectations for technical work quality, schedules and budgets. Basic Qualifications (Required): Bachelors degree in Geology or Hydrogeology with formal training in numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling Minimum three (3) years of experience simulating groundwater flow and contaminant transport using MODFLOW and MT3D with pre-/post-processing software, and aquifer test analysis software such as AQTESOLV Field experience with logging boreholes and installing monitoring well and conducting aquifer tests (slug, pumping) Experience analyzing spatial data using geographic information systems (GIS) such as Quantum GIS or ArcGIS/ArcPro Additional Qualifications (Required): Experience with databases including Microsoft Access Strong oral and written communication skills Highly organized and able to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities Ability to perform field activities (e.g., stoop, lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist high, walk, etc.) A valid U.S. drivers license Preferred Qualifications (Optional): Masters Degree in relevant discipline Experience with other relevant field investigations geophysical, tracer tests, etc. Work experience in a consulting firm 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification MSHA Part 48 training Valmont does not discriminate against any employee or applicant in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
