Machine Operator - Cutoff

How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Cutoff Operator position in the Tubing Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will set up and operate the flying band saw cut-off or the flying friction cutoff to cut lengths of tubing to meet customer specification. Set the length to be cut by the computer operated pulse generator/accelerator
Maintain accurate records of customer orders and total elapsed time of the mill crew
Adjust pull through drive section to maintain accurate ovality and straightness of all tubing
Inspect for the quality of the tubing ensuring no scratches, dents, or other deformities are present on the final product
Monitor tube ends to ensure tubing cuts are precise and without deformity
Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
Maintain a safe and productive working environment
What it takes
The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
The ability to accurately read a tape measure
The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
The ability to stand and walk 95% of the shift
The ability to bend and stoop up to 70% of the shift
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Six months of previous welding experience
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
Must be flexible to work extended hours including nights and weekends when necessary
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
