Associate Sales Engineer

Job Responsibilities:


Associate Sales Engineer is a technical resource supporting multiple account teams in a specialized area of focus. Responsible for technical and business requirements / Statement of Work review, new order fulfillment, maintenance contract enablement and auditing and related pre and post sales activities.

  • Processing of orders for custom designed Customer Premise Equipment œCPE insuring accuracy and timeliness.  Typical orders Include complex designed hardware and software configurations, labor and maintenance. Works with multiple processes and applications including Oracle E2E, NIBS and QOA process.
  • First level coordination for delivery, scheduling and implementation of CPE orders. Coordinates hardware delivery, technician scheduling, License enablement, parts tracking and issue resolution, coordinate with network installs whether provided by CTL or another vendor. Address and resolve issues as they arise. This may include ( but not limited to) parts discrepancies,  mid flight change orders, delivery issues ( missing parts, undeliverable addresses, damaged goods ), defective parts management, Return Materials Authorizations RMA, pricing changes, bundle packaging.

  • Performs customer discovery and solution review discussions to ensure prepared designs meet customer needs.
  • Alters the CPE Solution design as needed to result in the customer choosing CenturyLink Solutions
  • First level project management / project coordination
  • Work with project managers  / project coordinators when assigned to hand off implementation responsibilities.
  • Pre-sales design and implementation expertise in MAC CPE activity and contract change orders.
  • Reviews design and pricing with senior Sales Engineers to insure solution will function properly in customer's environment.
  • Follows industry technology trends through self-study and formal training and shares that knowledge with customers.
  • Clearly communicates the customer design to the teams responsible for ordering, implementation and ongoing support.
  • Reaches out directly to customers to perform discovery around proposed solutions, and to understand / document business needs and design requirements necessary for the formulation of optimal solutions. Works to set proper expectations with customer via SOW reviews and follow up communication.
  • Front line responsibility for CPE maintenance enablement, renewals and associated tasks. Activities will include but not limited to reviewing quotes for accuracy, serial number auditing and following up on maintenance contract issues.

  • Collects required components for CPE order processing and submits to appropriate teams for creation of new orders or change orders.
  • Provides order progress updates to sales team and customer, alerts Operation team members to new projects or issues with active orders.
  • Reviews and understands MSAs and contracts addressing associated SLAs as pertain to CPE quote / ordering / delivery / implementation. Ability to read contracts and interpret exacts on the deliverables, SOW and SLAs.

    Specific skills and knowledge needed to be effective include:

  • Business and technical requirements discovery; ability to craft a solution based on those requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of CPE products and how they interact in customer networks.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision


    Technical knowledge:
    basic understanding of Customer premises communication (data, video, voice) equipment from major vendors; IP routing and switching; Internet and MPLS-VPN architecture; Voice and VoIP technologies and products; TDM, SONET and Ethernet technologies and products;
     

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field and/or 3-5  years of experience with CenturyLink Products and Systems, in CPE or related Telecom experience
  • Ability to understand internetworking designs and their applications, to include CPE,  Managed, Virtualization,  IP Subnetting and Routing Techniques on LAN/WAN networks, IP Telephony, Security, Network Diversity Applications and other technical skills mentioned above.
  • Consultative selling and customer questioning techniques in order to identify new opportunities to sell within existing accounts and maintain the role of trusted advisor to both the customer and the sales team.
  • Effective presentation, analytical, communications and customer relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously on multiple projects and associated deliverables.
  • Time management skills are a critical requirement.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License with satisfactory driving record


    Anchor Preferred:

    Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field and/or 3-5 years of equivalent in sales engineering, systems engineering (CPE/ Hardware, Data Center Technologies, LAN Networking Services, Telephony, IP Networking Equipment), and/or sales.


    Knowledge / experience with Route /switch/firewall/ Voice hardware and vendors.

     Experience with Oracle and NIBS ordering systems as well as MS Visio

    Industry leading certifications preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Avaya, ShoreTel and others).

    Cisco, Avaya, ShoreTel, Juniper Maintenance process knowledge- renewals and enablement including serial number investigation and follow up.
