Position Summary |
Research Responsibilities Primary duties include, but are not limited to: • Develops and oversees educational research programs that align with the institution’s priorities. Provides mentorship to investigators and collaborates with IAE members to submit articles for publication in scholarly journals when appropriate. • Collaborates with the IAE leadership team to define educational research priorities, monitor member research activities through the education researcher consultation record process, and promote awareness and alignment of IAE educational research efforts with institutional priorities. • Identifies external funding opportunities and provides support for grant writing and regulatory review processes to assist IAE members. • Coordinates and participates in consultation and mentoring of IAE members and learners in educational research and scholarship. Administrative & Service Responsibilities Primary duties include, but are not limited to: • Promotes the UNMC IAE at local, regional, and national levels by: o Participating in meetings of IAE special interest groups and professional organizations, such as Academies Collaborative. o Supporting professional development and enhancing the scholarly environment at UNMC through collaboration with internal and external partners. This includes organizing training sessions and conferences to share educational scholarship and research best practices with relevant audiences. o Engaging in activities which support educational innovation with local, regional and national partners. o Fostering information exchanges with teaching academies and similar organizations at other institutions of higher learning. Other Key deliverables include, but are not limited to: o Delivering conference presentations and publishing in the fields of health science education and/or educational measurement in conjunction with IAE members o Developing and maintaining a dynamic framework and accurate inventory of institutional educational research activities o Utilizing online systems to effectively disseminate UNMC educational research to the professional community o Creating innovative plans to address educational research gaps such as fostering external collaborations, exploring new areas of research, and implementing novel research methods o Establishing timely communication and fostering effective working relationships with both internal IAE and external researchers o Developing e-learning resources, organizing internal seminars, and hosting periodic invitational conferences o Preparing quarterly reports to support strategic planning The above and other duties and responsibilities shall be subject to the direction of the Director of the IAE, and modified at their reasonable discretion. |

Required Qualifications | Requirements include, but are not limited to: • An advanced degree (PhD, EdD) and a minimum of 5 years of experience instituting research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) as part of scholarly work in social sciences; research administration experience is helpful. • An established reputation in the field of educational scholarship. An emphasis in health sciences education is preferred, but other areas of higher education will be considered. • A record of accomplishment of scholarly achievement as evidenced by grant funded research and publications in peer-reviewed journals. • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work closely and collaboratively with IAE leadership team, IAE members, educators, researchers and professionals with diverse backgrounds. This position touches all colleges and institutes of UNMC as well as outside clinical and educational partners. This hybrid position allows for a blend of on-campus and remote work. Employees are expected to be on campus at least three days per week, with flexibility in selecting specific days unless otherwise directed. Additionally, attendance at all scheduled on-campus events is mandatory to ensure full participation in key IAE activities and responsibilities. |
