Position Summary
ROLE SUMMARY
The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) seeks an innovative and committed Director for the UNMC Community Collaborative Academy. This role is pivotal in advancing community engagement and community-based participatory research in undergraduate medical education to help develop a cadre of future physician ready to care for the needs of communities they serve. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community engagement and community-based participatory research with experience in grant writing and management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with community partners to design and implement community-centered research projects that address partner needs and priorities.
  • Oversee and mentor medical students on community engagement research projects.
  • Identify funding opportunities and apply for grants to support community-engaged research initiatives.
  • Lead the enrollment of community organizations into the Community Collaborative Academy. Currently the UNMC Community Collaborative Academy partners with 16 community-based organizations in metropolitan Omaha with a goal to increase to at least 25 in the next 2 years to also include the Kearney area.
  • Design and deliver lectures and workshops on best practices for community engagement.
  • Plan and execute yearly presentations and workshops at national and regional conferences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Doctoral degree in a health-related field (e.g., Public Health, Medicine, Community-Based Research) with substantial experience in health promotion, health disparities, and community-based participatory research.
  • Proven track record in managing community engagement initiatives, developing educational programs, and writing and managing research/educational grants.
  • Strong managerial, organizational, and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic planning and priority-setting abilities.
  • Collaborative approach to working with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 suite and other relevant software.
Faculty position and rank will depend on degree and experience.
