Position Summary | The Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and talented individual to join our dynamic team, dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of HIV infection, drug abuse, neuroinflammation and aging. As part of the cutting-edge research projects, you will advance our understanding of how these factors contribute to neuroinflammation. Responsibilities include designing and conducting innovative experiments, analyzing complex mechanisms, writing high-impact manuscripts, and contributing to competitive grant applications. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in neurobiology and neurobehavior in the context of neuropathogenesis and inflammation. Proficiency in advanced molecular and cellular techniques, along with experience in neurobiology and a proven track record of scientific excellence is required. Ideal candidate will have experience in critical areas such as neuronal culturing and spine density assessments, microglial functional and structural analysis, and rodent behavioral experiments, cell signaling relating to inflammation, ferroptosis and pyroptosis. Expertise in dysregulated autophagy, mitophagy, and lysosomal dysfunction is desirable. To succeed in this role, candidate must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a strong independent work ethics, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
