Human/mammalian geneticist is sought to lead an independent, high-impact research program studying complex disease at the interface of genetics and microbiome biology at the Nebraska Food for Health Center (NFHC). Research program should integrate multi-omics approaches to study genotype-phenotype relationships. Candidate should be able to employ a wide variety of biostatistical techniques focused on investigating the complex interplay between phenome, genome, and microbiome. Depending on background and area of research interest, candidate will join a well-established research infrastructure in the Department of Pediatrics at the UNMC College of Medicine, or the Biostatistics or Epidemiology Departments in the UNMC College of Public Health, with opportunities for appointment in the Department of Pediatrics (Neonatology) and/or Genetic Medicine at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at UNMC. Individual will integrate into existing team of clinicians, molecular geneticists, and gut microbiome experts and establish new teams that connect with institutional stakeholders, agency or industry partners to strengthen research output. Successful candidate will be expected to effectively obtain and leverage external and internal support for research programming, mentor graduate students, publish in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and participate in scientific meetings and other professional activities. Candidate will participate in teaching activities at the graduate level in genetics and support the integrated mission of NFHC as well as the mission of home units. Other responsibilities include serving on department, university, and professional committees.
