The Chlamydia Research Group, led by Drs. Scot Ouellette and Lisa Rucks, within the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group. Chlamydia is an obligate intracellular bacterium that is the leading cause of bacterial sexually transmitted infections. Opportunities exist to study this unique bacterium in the areas of chlamydial-host cell interactions, chlamydial physiology and molecular biology, and other areas of interest to the group. Ideal candidates will have a PhD obtained within the past three years in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, or cell biology with related skill sets. Successful applicants will be highly motivated, independent, and hypothesis-driven scientists who will be expected to participate in training of graduate students, lab meetings, and other duties appropriate to an applicantâ??s career goals. UNMC has a vibrant research and medical community within the growing and affordable city of Omaha, NE. The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 60 faculty members, ~50 graduate students, and more than two dozen postdoctoral fellows and residents working in modern, well-equipped labs with state-of-the-art facilities. The Department has particular expertise in Gram-positive cocci and obligate intracellular pathogens.
