A funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Geoffrey M. Thiele, Ph.D. in the Department of Internal Medicine/Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, NE, USA. The candidate will direct independent projects related to the role of the immune system in the development and/or progression of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). More specifically, the role that two unique post-translational modifications (malondialdehyde-acetaldehyde adduct [MAA] and citrullination) play in driving tolerance loss to result in anti-citrulline autoimmune responses characteristic of RA (Thiele GM, Duryee MJ, Anderson DR, Klassen LW, Mohring S, Young KA, Benissan-Messan D, Sayles H, Dusad A, Hunter C, Sokolove J, Robinson W, Oâ??Dell JR, Nicholas A, Tuma DJ, Mikuls TR. Malondialdehyde-Acetaldehyde Adducts (MAA) and anti-MAA Antibody in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Arthritis and Rheumatology. 67(3):645-655, 2015. PMID 25417811).
