Streck is seeking candidates for a R&D Associate Scientist 1 to work with our scientific professionals on product enhancements and new product development. This position will primarily work within the scope of bioanalytical chemistry.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Provide support to Analytical Chemistry group on various research projects within Streck.
• Prepare solutions and samples according to instructions provided by scientists.
• Conduct physical testing including but not limited to viscosity, surface tension, pH, osmolality, acid-base titration, and moisture analysis measurements.
• Conduct instrumental analytical testing on products according to the provided guidelines and protocols.
• Maintain the inventory of lab chemicals and lab environments through maintaining a sterile environment, organizing log books, labeling, ordering, storing, and managing samples and chemicals.
• Perform and schedule maintenance of basic lab equipment such centrifuges, balances, pH meters, Osmometers, ovens, etc.
• Implement schedules for routine maintenance of analytical instruments such as Sartorius water purifying system, GC, HPLC, FT-IR, TGA, Karl Fisher etc., and ensure schedules are followed.
• Document maintenance records of equipment.
• Assist RD manager in keeping up an accurate equipment list and updating assets where applicable.
• Present data and write reports on projects as requested.
• Ensure strict adherence to all relevant federal and local guidelines for lab safety and productivity including, OSHA, ADA and other required regulations.

Technical Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, Chemistry major preferred, with a suggested ≥ 0-2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting. Laboratory work experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with peers and colleagues of differing backgrounds.
• Ability to apply established principles, theories, and concepts in area of responsibility, together with a working knowledge of related disciplines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Capability to deliver on project timelines individually or in a team setting
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
