Distribution Supervisor

Job Description


Responsible for the direct supervision of the Distribution department. Primary duties include organizing and directing daily operations, ordering supplies, writing/revising work procedures, training, and evaluating department personnel.  This person will also perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Director of Manufacturing.




  1. Supervise the Distribution operations to ensure:
  1. Products are received, handled and shipped according to procedure
  2. All products are ready to be shipped as scheduled
  3. Maintain inventories of Streck manufactured products, resale of goods, and packaging/shipping  supplies, conduct accurate         cycle counts according to set schedule
  4. All documentation for packaging and shipping is completed according to procedure
  5. All packing lists are printed
  6. Oversee all orders to ensure proper freight charges are added
  7. Coordinate pickups for all carriers
  1. Schedule and plan all distribution functions and report any conflicts that may arise.
  2. Learn all job tasks associated with the Distribution departments including packaging and shipping tasks.  Provide operational assistance as needed. (Back-up Coverage)
  3. Develop and motivate personnel to optimize their performance, personal growth, and professional development.  Responsible for providing employee evaluations according to company policy.
  4. Communicate any problems, procedural questions, and personnel issues to the Production Manager.
  5. Interface with other departments for the purpose of communicating and working towards solutions to problems; such as, planning and scheduling of workloads to ensure products are shipping on time.
  6. Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training of new personnel.
  7. Maintain and revise all department documentation and work instructions.
  8. Assist in developing an annual plan and budget for areas of responsibility.
  9. Attend and / or chair departmental and company meetings as assigned.
  10. Ensure strict adherence to ISO Quality System.
  11. Ensure strict adherence to company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
  12. Oversee and/or approve the scheduling of vacations, sick leave and overtime for direct reports.
  13. Supervise and handle all CAPA’s and emails with reference to distribution problems by reporting to Production Manager on problem resolutions and making suggested changes, when necessary, to solve problems and increase efficiency.
  14. Daily interaction is required with Distribution Supervisors to establish work schedules for each day.
  15. Display a “Positive Attitude” in the workplace.

  17. Maintain a mature problem solving communication style while dealing with work pressures, time demands and conflict.

  1. Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Distribution Management, Logistics, Communications, or related discipline required.
  2. Two to three years of packaging/shipping experience required with two to three years of supervisory experience necessary.
  3. Must be dependable, well organized, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing.
