Job Description

Physicians Mutual is seeking an experienced Reporting Analyst to design, develop and maintain multiple Direct Marketing Group (DMG) reporting and production databases to create and organize database information and processes for users. In this role, you would plan, organize and implement reporting interfaces and designs with input from end users. You'd be responsible for producing reports and data visuals used to assist management in planning marketing strategies and promotion budgets, as well as for reporting to the highest levels of leadership.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Initiating automation through database-driven processes
  • Controlling outcomes of database performance
  • Providing technical guidance and problem-solving services on database interfaces and resulting reports/dashboards
  • Correcting errors and resolving problems associated with DMG databases and their underlying data
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of physical database functions, fields, etc.
  • Training and coaching DMG users of these interfaces 
  • Assuring data integrity and reporting accuracy



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Business Administration or related area, or its equivalent training/work experience is required
  • Two+ years' experience in relational database management, including expertise in manipulating data and developing graphical user interfaces required
  • Previous experience in statistical analysis and insurance is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of database and query and analysis tools, such as MS Access, Tableau, Hyperion, as well as Microsoft Office software Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Ability to determine and correct errors in production databases in a timely manner enabling daily deadlines to be met
  • Expert knowledge of data warehousing and data access needed to efficiently investigate and troubleshoot data problems
  • Ability to read and write VBA and SQL code as needed for data retrieval and database manipulation.
  • Must understand both the technical aspect and the user requirements in an effort to develop the best solutions
  • Mathematical competency/aptitude, adept use of spreadsheets
  • Strong capability in budget processes, projecting results, and analyzing statistics
  • Self-motivated and able to work under loose supervision while exercising independent decision making skills
  • Ability to effectively work alongside individuals or within groups to define, discuss, and resolve problems
  • Fluent in financial reporting, insurance practices and company information to recommend sound initiatives
  • Well-developed verbal/written communication skills and ability to present information in a logical and useful format
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and follow through on concurrent initiatives to meet established standards and deadlines
