Job Title: Student Technology Support Intern 

 

Locations: As Assigned by OPS Administrator - TAC Building

 

Reports To: Director, IMS User Support 

 

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-exempt, as defined by internship 

During School Year:  Maximum of 10 hours per week 

During Summer:  Maximum of 19 hours per week 

 

Salary Schedule: Non-negotiated, $12.00 per hour 

 

Essential Performance Responsibilities: 

  • Work under the direction of the Building Tech Support staff to assist with various tasks such as:
  • Retrieving and returning equipment from classrooms 
  • Receiving incoming devices and properly cataloguing them 
  • Performing minor troubleshooting or repairs as needed 
  • Keeping paperwork/records current 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Must be at least 16 years of age. 
  • Must be currently enrolled in an OPS high school and earning passing grades in each class currently scheduled. 
  • Must be on-track to graduate. 
  • Must have documented good attendance including minimal tardiness to classes. 
  • Must be eligible for class release. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency of the English language to read and communicate with others. 
  • Evidence of sensitivity and respect for others. 
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication. 
  • Ability to interact with others in a courteous, professional manner. 
  • Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality. 
  • Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance. 
  • Knowledge of OPS's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them.

 

Equipment: This position will require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, computer software, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.? Must always comply with OPS's guidelines for equipment use. 

Travel:Limited travel may be required. Must have access to reliable transportation.

  • Must have organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to apply simple understanding to carry out detailed but basic written and/or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to read and use information from written materials and visual displays. 
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and maintain balance while performing job related tasks. 
  • Ability to work in standing/walking positions on a frequent basis throughout the work shift. 
  • Evidence of sensitivity and respect for others. 
  • Ability to interact with others in a courteous, professional manner. 
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model. 
  • Ability to use hand-held tools and general office equipment frequently. 

 

Interrelations: 

  • Will interact with district staff, external partners, and others. 
  • Will need to maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the Building Tech support staff or other designee in order to complete day to day tasks. 
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. 
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues. 
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.

  • In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave. 
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator. 
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.
