Position: Systems Analyst/Developer - Special Education Support
Location: Teacher Administrative Center, 3215 Cuming Street, Omaha, NE 68131
Reports To: IMS Technical Support Coordinator
Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 261 day 12-month / Exempt
Salary Schedule: 92D
Position Purpose: The Omaha Public Schools (OPS) is seeking a Systems Analyst/Developer with strong SQL skills for Special Education Support. This position will be the main Special Education contact working closely with them to make sure development and reporting are not delayed so deadlines can be met. The position will work with users and technical staff to develop methods to handle ad hoc requests for students' special education data from information systems. This position will 1) Develop and ensure that processes are well documented, 2) Assist users when additional information, functionality, or services are needed, 3) Convey analysis information to the appropriate technical staff through standard information systems products, including work requests and requirements specifications, and 4) Analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, and support solutions.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Code and maintain stored procedures, data movement/population, data clean up, data accuracy, new functionality and troubleshooting (Infinite Campus Support focused on Special Education data)
- Develop reports (SSRS development) for student data focusing on Special Education
- Technical support of Special Education processes including, but not limited to: Ed-Fi State Reporting, 504 ADA Eligibility Determination and Conflict Reporting, IEPs, MiPS timesheets, Non-Public Reporting, Special Education Calendar, Psychologist Caseload, Proportionate Share, and Alternate Assessment
- Write documentation for Infinite Campus data manipulation, including comparison and recovery of data within a school year and across years
- Import data into and export data from Infinite Campus
- Document critical processes, repeatable processes, work requests and instructions for technical support or end users and stored procedures
- Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations
- Escalate problems to the SDIS Lead and as appropriate to IT management
- Provide input and knowledge as needed to others on the SDIS and Data Analytics team
- Investigate and assist with problem resolution
- Analyze and evaluate performance problems
- Perform TFS duties
Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with OPS's guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited local travel may be required.

- For schools and district departments to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of coding advanced SQL queries preferred
- Knowledge of Infinite Campus student software
- Knowledge of district and state reporting requirements for Special Education students preferred
- Knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Tableau software preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server including: coding, writing complex queries, scripts and jobs
- Demonstrated ability to follow a development methodology which includes discovery & analysis, designing, developing & testing, and delivery & support maintenance
- Advanced experience using strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience with stored procedures, views, indexes, foreign keys, etc.
- Advanced skill in Microsoft: Windows Operating Systems, Office Suite versions, Visio, Project, etc.
- Ability to conduct analysis (plan, organize, problem-solve, and think abstractly/ conceptually) in an educational environment
- Ability to effectively develop in and use many of the following: Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, Infinite Campus, Microsoft Suite, Visual Studio
- Ability to translate customer requests into comprehensive technical requirement documents
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Develop and execute a rigorous test plan for all development, data changes and data analysis
- Strong ability to follow tasks through to completion and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or with a team to research and solve critical issues
- Strong communication skills; ability to convey accurate and timely information both verbally and written
- Ability to understand technical manuals and procedural documentation
- Ability to thoroughly document development work efforts (both new and existing)
- Ability to work through difficult issues and maintain a positive attitude when communicating with others
- Ability to work hours outside of normal schedule with little or no advance notification
- Skills pertinent to positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with staff members in a multicultural urban setting
Terms of Employment
This position is treated as a full-time, exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
