Summary:
OPPD is seeking a laborer to support Transportation fleet and shop operations by performing routine preventive maintenance, fueling, and other fleet and shop services.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine & preventative maintenance to OPPDs fleet of transportation & construction equipment.
· Communicate with mechanics and crew leaders regarding ongoing condition/status of vehicles and equipment, shop/tools.
· Participate in maintaining an environment focused on safety, good communication, collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, and opportunities for continuous improvements and efficiencies.
· Wash/clean cars, trucks and other equipment utilizing pressure washers in shop wash bay as well as utilizing mobile wash unit.
· Perform mobile fueling services to the various remote job sites as directed.
· Transport vehicles and equipment between various service centers and job-site locations.
· Assist crewmembers in daily shop activities; pick-up parts, maintain, organize, and clean shop, perform tire services/replacements, and other duties as assigned by crew leader.
· Become familiar with and abide by all applicable safety requirements as related but not limited to shop operations, vehicle and equipment repair and operation, hazardous materials and personal protective equipment.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of vehicles (passenger cars, light duty trucks and medium duty trucks) and construction equipment
Desired:
- Post-secondary technical (light/medium/heavy duty vehicle) education
- Knowledge of hydraulic system operations and maintenance
- Class A Commercial Drivers License
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience operating shop equipment such as vehicle hoists, tire repair equipment and automatic lube dispensing equipment
- Fleet shop operations for an electric utility, independent shop, dealership or similar/related business is preferred.
