Responsibilities

The Omaha Public Power District has officially launched a search for its Vice President, Sustainability and Environmental Affairs. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will have responsibility for the development of environmental strategies to support the company's decarbonization goals while balancing the present needs for affordability, reliability and resiliency without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This set of objectives will be achieved through several critical channels including, but not limited to:

The development of overarching enterprise-wide environmental strategies and advocacy strategies
The delivery of regulatory compliance consultation and adherence support
The ongoing delivery of environmental impact monitoring and measurement for the enterprise

In addition to championing our commitment to providing environmentally sensitive energy services, you will be counted on to contribute to the company's strategic direction and attainment of corporate objectives. This person will have a track record of solving complex challenges and is looking for an opportunity to help shape the future of a highly respected organization. Other specific responsibilities include:

Resource and guide the delivery of an internal consulting and support service function/team. This team will collaborate with OPPD business units in the identification and development of plans to enhance environmental consciousness, ensure regulatory/industry compliance and promote environmental sustainability.
Leverage the outputs of the environmental impact monitoring and measurement function to identify areas of opportunity to support the enhancement our internal operations, practices and overarching environmental impact as a company.
Build and maintain a competent/capable team accountable and empowered to deliver on the assigned goals for the business unit in a way that is consistent with OPPD's Mission & Values.
Provide for effective business unit operations, which include functional planning & execution; internal & external communications; fiscal & budgetary accountability and stewardship; and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor degree in a technical field such as natural sciences, engineering, or business disciplines OR Ten+ (10+) years of experience in a related field/role
Thorough understanding of strategic planning, budgeting, and broad familiarity with all corporate operations
Knowledge of laws/regulations and practices affecting the overall corporate operation
Experience with environmental management systems standards

Desired:

Master's degree
Working knowledge of Regional Transmission Organizations, like the Southwest Power Pool
Alternative energy generation experience
Broad knowledge of the electric utility industry, including accounting practices and OPPD operations
