Digital Channel Specialist

The Digital Channel Specialist is responsible for ensuring an outstanding digital experience through the regular management and maintenance of multiple digital channels, including websites and social media. This role should have experience in multiple aspects of digital communication such as SEO, UX and UI, and can effectively leverage digital channels for an optimal customer-owner experience.  The Digital Channel Specialist will handle content management of the corporate website and prepare content and posts on social media channels. This position must have solid working knowledge of current and emerging trends in website strategy. The Digital Channel Specialist may require off-hours support, including participation in storm, incident and business continuity activities.  This role will assist Corporate Communications business partners with plans for and use of social media and the corporate website.

  • Assist in managing website content and creating social media content as needed.
  • Perform keyword research to identify content opportunities across all OPPD website channels (corporate and brand journalism sites).
  • Collaborate with other channel owners and departments to ensure cohesive messaging across multiple platforms.
  • Provide support to internal teams and assists in developing and updating website content, UX and UI.
  • Assist with website updates to ensure information presented to customers is current, accurate, well-designed, easy to understand and readable. Ensure all content across pages is consistent with overall business objectives and reflects company voice and brand.
  • Support online presence by assisting with the social listening and response as well as regular monitoring and analytics.
  • Monitor discussion forums and coordinating with company experts and communication partners on appropriate responses.
  • Help analyze and review effectiveness of social media and corporate website using various measurement tools, including Google Analytics.
  • Administer web-crawling tools on websites to improve compliance and user experience.
  • Work with business partners across the district to improve user experience.
  • Participate in storm, outage and emergency response efforts, as needed, including traditional and social media monitoring and response, as well as corporate website presence.




  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related experience.
  • Three (3) years of communications experience, including digital content creation, distribution and analytics
  • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) experience
  • Clear, concise writing ability



  • Crisis communication experience
  • Experience with social media monitoring tools


Time Demands:

  • This position is considered an œessential position meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift.
  • Must maintain 24-hour availability for technical and professional assistance, emergency response, and directing remedial action in response to such emergencies, as well as maintain availability as required for on call duty.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy.
