Description

Responsibilities

OPPD has an open Senior Infrastructure Engineer position. The focus of this position is to participate in shaping the direction of the technology we use, and to lead technology implementations. If you have a passion for technology, you like to design technical solutions, solve complex problems, and excel in a team environment come work with us on our high performing team! Our areas of focus are VMware, Microsoft, Redhat & Automation.

Perform and analyze complex level engineering assignments that would take approximately six to nine months to complete.

  • Design testing of materials
  • Prepare specifications
  • Participate in completing process study tests
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve issues when necessary

Participate in new project implementations.

  • Identify conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination requirements
  • Coordinate project activities with other operations or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion
  • Recommends project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design
  • Reviews project related documentation to ensure accuracy

Coordinate with Enterprise Architects and Demand Management to develop and deliver solutions that maintain standards from an operation and structural perspective.

  • Performs planning and implementation of changes to technical architecture and operating environments
  • Develop standards, frameworks, and guides for diverse engineering activities
  • Effectively interface with other teams to understand business requirements and to help customers understand and leverage technology.

Applies knowledge of current technical innovations and strategies.

  • Provide analysis and recommendations of new or upgraded technology
  • Provide technical leadership for the delivery of an automation framework and automated solutions
  • Serve as vital role in driving virtualization and cloud solutions

Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement by collaborating with other areas to develop and deliver solutions that maintain standards from an operations and structural perspective.

  • Utilize configuration management tools to maintain consistency of systems, devices, and applications
  • Automatically deliver and make rapid changes across the infrastructure
  • Mentor and works with the Infrastructure Engineer to provide support.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an equivalent role; OR 9+ years of experience in the design, configuration and operation of an enterprise infrastructure
  • Must be able to accommodate 24 hour on call escalation schedule
  • General experience in a wide variety of technical areas including, but not limited to: application deployment, configuration management, workflow automation / orchestration, process automation
  • Ability to collaborate with resources across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to design and document complex workflows
  • Specialization in one or more of the following supplemental requirements

Desired:

SERVER

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux
  • Advanced experience with installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise-class server hardware (Cisco UCS)
  • Advanced knowledge in Active Directory authentication technologies
  • Experience in server virtualization platforms such as VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix XenApp Server and XenDesktop
  • Experience with automated monitoring systems and technologies, with practical knowledge of automated patching procedures
  • Experience in cloud management technologies (such as vRealize, CliQr CloudBolt)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and O365 Administration
  • Experience with Cloud environments both Private and Public, including Amazon or Azure

AUTOMATION

  • Experience scripting in Powershell, Python, or other languages
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • API Integration Understanding (REST, SOAP) API Management
  • Develop and deliver complex workflows to automate the deployment of end-to-end environments for development, testing, and production use
  • Develop and deliver a framework, scripts, and templates to automate common infrastructure provisioning tasks
  • Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation and orchestration
  • Experience with Containers (such as Docker, Pivotal Cloud Foundry)

STORAGE

  • Working knowledge of storage/backup solutions (PURE, VNX, vPlex, Data Domain, Avamar)
  • Working knowledge of SAN fabric switching (Brocade)
  • Experience in Hyperconvergence

OTHER

  • Well-rounded knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VLAN, Routing, Firewalls, etc.)
  • Datacenter management (power, space, cooling, rack elevations, cable plant)
  • Content switching and Traffic Management (F5, Netscaler)
  • Experience in SDN (ACI, NSX)

Salary Grade: S5

Minimum: $88,710

Midpoint: $110,887
