OPPD's Energy Management Department is looking for a technically competent, critical thinking individual who has experience working across a diverse environment and is looking for a chance to develop and lead network administrative activities and join a team of hungry, hardworking, goal-orientated individuals. This position will be responsible for OPPD's Operational Technologies network infrastructure design, implementation and maintenance; Ensuring regulatory cybersecurity standards are implemented and maintained; Process orientated to include change management, configuration management and ability to manage assigned maintenance tasks. This position requires a self-motivated individual to perform tasks with minimal guidance and successfully collaborate with Energy Management team members and stakeholders across the OPPD district.

Specific responsibilities for this role:

 

  1. Procure, configure, install (including power and data cabling), troubleshoot and maintain special purpose equipment including network appliances (routers, firewalls, switches, hubs, etc.) and modems as well as workstations and PC's.
  2. Conceive, design and implement technical solutions for new or modifications to existing EMS hardware and related systems for performance, maintenance, and cyber security needs.   
  3. Support large and complex projects dealing with the EMS and its related networks.
  4. Ensure backup and restoration functions can be performed as required on EMS and related equipment.
  5. Coordinate work with departmental personnel and areas outside the department, including contractors and vendors, as appropriate.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the hardware performance and availability of the District's Operations Systems and related equipment to assure the required availability.
  7. Maintain documentation on supported systems and equipment according to District policies and procedures.
  8. Stay abreast of ever changing technologies used to support the EMS and related systems.
  9. Provide all support in such a way so as to meet user requirements yet minimally impact District Operations.
  10. Ensure a safe working environment by observing and following all relevant safety related practices, including regulatory requirements, District policies and procedures.
  11. Ensure District compliance to NERC CIP Standards.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience. 

Desired:

Experience in the following: 

  • Configuring and maintaining LAN/WAN networks including firewalls, routers, hubs, switches, etc.
  • Configuring/Administrating Unix/Linux/Microsoft Operating System equipment
  • Configuring/Implementing cyber security controls and cyber security tools
  • Experience as Operations System Specialist or equivalent in an Operations environment.
  • Experience implementing NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards within a SCADA/EMS environment
